Three Quotes:

Stephen Hawking:
"the whole history of science has been a gradual realization that events do not happen in an arbitrary manner, but that they reflect a certain underlying order, which may or may not be divinely inspired" source: thinkexist.com

Charles Darwin:
"let it be born in the mind how infinitely complex and close-fitting are the mutual relations of all organic beings to each other and to their physical conditions of life." The Origin of the Species, published 1859, p.67

In this animation the path that Goodwin would take into the Gallery is shown. Because of the scale of his work there is a winch that would allow Goodwin's work to be lifted through the center of the of the spiral stair.

Sketch Up Animations

This animations shows how the art work of Swallow would be moved from the upper space into the gallery

My final Sketch up Model

This image was chosen because it shows how the stairs from both upper and lower spaces interface with the gallery space.

In this image the inspiration attained from the words grow (upper space) and connect (lower space) are clearly demonstrated. For the upper space the way in which the light, free form of the steel grows from the solid concrete foundation is reminiscent of the Sparrow's carved artwork. This idea can also be seen in the stair in which the light steel treads grow out and up into the tunnel structure from the concrete wall. While the intersecting tunnels of the lower space serve as a symbol of connectivity like Goodwin's sculpture. The stair moving up from this space occupies the central column which acts as a connection between each of the spaces

This image shows a good overall view of the gallery complex. It also shows the contrast between the mass of the concrete and the lighter appearance of the steel that makes up the roof of the gallery and the upper space.
